WiRED International’s success rests solidly on its many partners and volunteers. Following our trip to Armenia, WiRED is proud to introduce Mr. Sebouh Baghdoyan, coordinator for our Community Health Information (CHI) e-library program in Armenia.
As a retired United Nations program officer with more than 40 years of professional practice in international and non-governmental organizations, Mr. Baghdoyan will provide a significant contribution to the expansion of our CHI programs throughout Armenia and Southwestern Asia.
Born in Lebanon but with his home in Vienna, Austria, Mr. Baghdoyan has been participating actively in Armenian culture. He serves as Secretary of the Council for the Armenian General Benevolent Union’s Vienna chapter, an organization that preserves and promotes Armenian identity and heritage through educational, cultural and humanitarian programs. He also is a member of the Armenian Youth Association. In addition to his membership in these and other Armenian organizations, Mr. Baghdoyan regularly visits Armenia where he assists with several programs for disabled children, economic development and health care.
“Aiding the underprivileged is a privilege that we all possess, and I am pleased to be in a position to assist people in need,” said Mr. Baghdoyan. “With a little assistance—in this case with basic knowledge about good health practices—people can make major strides to improve their lives and the lives of their children.”
As WiRED’s coordinator in Armenia, Mr. Baghdoyan raised funds and made travel arrangements for WiRED’s recent trip. He will continue to serve as liaison to Armenia Caritas, our partner organization for this effort. Further, he will head up the development of our CHI program in six key towns and eventually in other locations across Armenia. WiRED welcomes Sebouh Baghdoyan to our team and thanks him for his volunteer efforts in support of this important new community health project in Armenia.
