About Us The International Telemedicine Network (ITN) offers patient consultations and continuing medical education programs, using tools such as electronic libraries, digital video lectures, live seminars, and discussions. The ITN partnership offers the consortium members’ collective medical expertise and international connections, as well as ICT expertise from highly experienced telemedicine providers. The ITN also offers rapid response programs for epidemics and medical emergencies.
Using telemedicine and other eHealth solutions is an efficient, effective, and environmentally friendly way to deliver information. The ITN consortium can conduct hundreds of “face-to-face” lectures and seminars between doctors separated by thousands of miles. Wherever possible, the ITN coordinates its efforts with local suppliers and community-based health organizations in host countries.
The ITN system has many advantages: Assistance: The ITN assists administrators in host countries to develop CME programs for practicing physicians. The ITN also coordinates Internet access facilities.
Coordination: The ITN offers a single point of contact for its educational programs. Planning, content, delivery, and assessment are integrated into a seamless operation.
Pooled expertise: ITN member institutions collectively have hundreds of years of experience in medical education, research, telemedicine, and ICT.
Urgent response: The consortium can provide rapid responses to emergencies, epidemics, and other urgent requests. Redundant capacity (in content and delivery) allows fast, coordinated responses.
Back-up resources: Content providers back up each other at times of increased demand.
