How much do you know about human anatomy? A knowledge of anatomy is central to understanding illnesses and how to prevent them.

WiRED International just launched a three-part series on anatomy. As with our other Express health learning modules, the anatomy sequence was created to provide grassroots audiences with an introduction to the body’s key systems and the relationship between anatomy and illness. The series starts with an explanation of how a healthy body works, and then looks at factors that can introduce illnesses.

Learning about the body’s systems and then considering how they can malfunction provide the basis for any medical and health subject.

Learning about the body’s systems and then considering how they can malfunction provide the basis for any medical and health subject. The fundamentals of WiRED’s Anatomy Express lead into all the other WiRED modules.

What can go wrong with a functioning body? In Part 1 WiRED discusses how a normal body works by describing the circulatory, urinary, respiratory, musculoskeletal and digestive systems. Then the lesson answers basic questions such as “What can make it hard to breathe?” and “What can cause poor digestion of food?” Part 2 covers the endocrine, immune and lymphatic systems, nervous and reproductive systems, and the functions they perform. Part 3 offers information on why people get sick, looking at infectious and non-infectious diseases.

This Express series offers a quick introduction which is designed to provide people who are not medical professionals with a basic understanding of the body’s systems. WiRED offers more detailed modules for medical professionals and others who would like to delve more deeply into medical and health topics.

All WiRED modules are created and peer reviewed by our team of physicians, medical editors, imagers and technicians along with other medical experts. Our modules are free to everyone to view and download. So start learning today about anatomy!
