For General Audiences

Anatomy & Illness Fundamentals—Part 1 (Express module) A Guide for Grass Roots Audiences: This module describes the circulatory, musculoskeletal, digestive, urinary and respiratory systems. The two main topics are healthy body functioning and unhealthy body functioning.

Anatomía y Enfermedad Fundamentos—Parte 1 (Modulo Expreso) (Spanish)

Anatomy & Illness Fundamentals—Part 2 (Express module) A Guide for Grass Roots Audiences: This module describes the endocrine, lymphatic, immune, nervous and reproductive systems.

Anatomía y Enfermedad Fundamentos—Parte 2 (Modulo Expreso) (Spanish)

Anatomy & Illness Fundamentals—Part 3 (Express module) A Guide for Grass Roots Audiences: This module describes infectious and non-infectious diseases.

Anatomía y Enfermedad Fundamentos—Parte 3 (Modulo Expreso) (Spanish)

Introduction to the human body. This module provides a brief introduction to anatomy, the science of the structure of the human body and also reviews the major systems of the body as well as the organs that make up these systems.

Cardiovascular system. Sometimes called the circulatory system, the cardiovascular system is a closed system that transports blood throughout the body. This module looks at the components of the system, such as the heart and veins, blood pressure and other ways to measure blood flow.

Cells, tissues and membranes. This module introduces the basic units of life, cells and their structure and functions and looks at four basic types of tissue in the human body as well as the different types of membranes found in the body.

Digestive system. This module looks at the digestive tract as well as the three processes of the digestive system: digestion, absorption and elimination. Also, the module describes the different parts of the body used in the digestive process.

Endocrine system. Along with the nervous system, this module looks at the processes and parts of the body, such as glands, that control the regulation of body activities.

Female reproductive system. This module looks at the physical parts of the female body as well as the sexual processes women go through throughout their lives.

Lymphatic system. This module discusses the components of the system — such as the lymph, vessels and organs — that make it up as well as its primary functions in the body.

Male reproductive system. This module begins with an introduction to the reproductive system as a whole, and then discusses the organs, their functions and how the system controls the male sexual response and hormonal control.

Nervous system. This system is the center of all mental activity, and handles the control, regulation and communication functions of the human body. The module illustrates the parts of the brain and nerves that facilitate the system and help the body interact with its environment.

Respiratory system. This module looks at the process of respiration, internally and externally, that allows for the exchange of oxygen for carbon dioxide between the body and air. The module also discusses ventilation, or breathing, and cellular metabolism while showing the organs that make this system work.

Skeletal system. The human skeletal system consists of bones, cartilage, ligaments and tendons that set up a rigid framework to protect soft organs and help with movement. This module looks at bone development, structure and classification to teach the importance of this body system.

Urinary system. This module looks at how the volume and composition of body fluids are controlled by the urinary organs, mainly the kidney and bladder, and how the urinary or excretory system rids the body of waste products.
